Μια ευκαιρία για να βρεθεί κανείς στο περιβάλλον των κολλεγίων της Οξφόρδης, στο κολλέγιο Wolfson,για μία σειρά ομιλιών και συζητήσεων για την Ορθόδοξη θεολογία και τις βυζαντινές σπουδές και την παράδοση έρευνας και διδασκαλίας τους στο επιστημονικό και πολιτιστικό περιβάλλον της Οξφόρδης.
Όσοι συμμετάσχουν στο θερινό σχολείο που διοργανώνει η πολιτιστική εταιρεία ΑΙΝΟΣ σε συνεργασία με το Πανεπιστήμιο του Winchester, το Fellowship of St Alban and St Sergius, τις οικίες St Gregory and St Macrina και το Orthodox Theological Research Forum, θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να παρακολουθήσουν διαλέξεις από διακεκριμένους καθηγητές Βυζαντινών σπουδών και θεολογίας, όπως ο Μητροπολίτης Διοκλείας Κάλλιστος Ware, o Andrew Louth, o Richard Price, o Sebastian Brock, η Mary Cunningham, ο Γιώργος Καλόφωνος κ.ά., να συμμετάσχουν στις ακολουθίες των Ορθόδοξων ναών της, να ξεναγηθούν στην Οξφόρδη και στα κολλέγιά της, στους δρόμους και τις αγορές της, στις βιβλιοθήκες, να κάνουν τις παραδοσιακές βαρκάδες στο ποτάμι, και να παρακολουθήσουν τις πολιτιστικές της βραδυές στους καλοκαιρινούς της κήπους.
Το θερινό αυτό σχολείο θα ξεκινήσει με μία εκδήλωση αφιερωμένη στο ΙΕΡΟ ΣΤΗΝ ΤΕΧΝΗ με τη συμμετοχή των Ελλήνων εικαστικών: Βένιας Δημητρακοπούλου, Βάνας Ξένου, Παύλου Σάμιου, Αιμιλίας Παπαφιλίππου, την Παρασκευή 3 Ιουλίου 2015.

After the continuing success and the rising interest in Patristic and Byzantine Studies in the UK and internationally, we have decided to explore their common ground, the various possibilities for further cooperation, and any future research and teaching opportunities.
A Study Week dedicated to interdisciplinary research in the fields of theology and medieval studies with special emphasis in Patristics and Byzantine studies, will be held in the first week of July 2015 at Wolfson College, Oxford, and the House of St Gregory and St Macrina as well as in the House of St Theosevia, a place of Orthodox teaching, worship and ecumenical dialogue established by the circle of the late Russian scholar and intellectual of the 20th century, Nicholas Zernov.
The event in which eminent personalities but also younger scholars will lecture on various aspects of theology, history and literature, is organized by the Cultural Society Ainos, the University of Winchester, the Orthodox Theological Research Forum, the Fellowship of St Alban & St Sergius, the Volos Theological Academy and the House of St Gregory & St Macrina.
A series of distinguished lecturers, researchers and artists will offer lectures and seminars dedicated to the Bible, spirituality, sacred art, the study of history, and the way Patristic and Byzantine Studies may be relevant to us today. Among them: Metropolitan Kallistos of Diokleia (Oxford), Sebastian Brock (Oxford), Hugh Wybrew (Oxford), Andrew Louth (Durham), Ioli Kalavrezou (Cambridge Mass.), Richard Price (London), Ida Toth (Oxford), Andreas Andreopoulos (Winchester), Pantelis Kalaitzidis (Volos), Niki Tsironi (Athens), Eirini Panou (Jerusalem), Rebecca White (Oxford), Stephen Platt (Oxford), Nikolaos Asproulis (Volos), George Calofonos (Athens), Theofili Kampianaki (Oxford) etc.
The Study Week will start with an event dedicated to “The Sacred in Art”. The context of the Study week is to explore the open dialogue between the timeless reality of sacred and its approach by thinkers, intellectuals and artists at specific periods of time, like the Byzantine era. The Sacred in Art has been one of the topics on which we –as organizers- have focused our attention in the past 10 years yet on which these three artists have dedicated thought, energy and work over a lifetime. Venia Dimitrakopoulou, Pavlos Samios and Vana Xenou, three distinguished Greek artists, will present their works in the space of Wolfson College and they will also talk about their thought and their views regarding this invisible and yet palpable sacred nucleus of art –ecclesiastical and secular – of the past and the present.
Hosted at Wolfson College, as well as at St Gregory’s and St Theosevia’s House at Canterbury Road, Oxford, the event will tackle topics such as Syriac literature: words sung and spoken; Homiletics, then and now: ‘as if happening in front of our eyes’; art and liturgy, etc. and will include seminars, reading classes, discussions, guided tours in Oxford colleges, cultural events, and dialogues between artists, scholars and the wider public.
